So against what you said I think it matters alot what animation tool you use. Therefore its easier to use SCML then doing it with the classic frame by frame style. It depends a bit on whether or not your framework can support it, doesnt it Anyways, I use Spine. With Spriter and DragonBones, the documentation was a little sparse or in Chinese making it tougher to integrate. Tried the free version but I dont think it lets you export. However, since you mentioned that package, I am guessing you are after a skeletal animation solution for Unity specifically. Also because it was HTML5 and we were mindful of the file size, this was the best way to go about it. You have smooth animations, less memory cost and whenever you edit the SCML file its automatically updated in Unity. Have used Spine with Phaser and it works like a charm. So basically you drag and drop the SCML file into Unity and there you go. The alternative to that is a plugin in Unity called Spriter2Unity. But again much frames mean much package size. This might be true that they want edit or change it but I believe the main thing is different.įor example in Unit圓D you can go for frame by frame animations which will cost you much memory and the animations even will not look as smooth as in the animation tool itself based on how many frames you export.
